Quinta do Infantado LBV 2009

20,95 Incl. BTW

This Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) is aubergine purple with a ruby red edge. On the nose there are dark berries, blackberries, blueberries and black raspberries, with a floral edge, somewhere between violets and rose petals. The Port has a nice freshness. The same fresh berries are found again on the palate, with a slight acidity that nicely accentuates the dry style. The tannins are mild, but present and the finish is of medium length.

The special thing about the Port wines of Quinta do Infantado is that they are predominantly less sweet than the Port of other brands. This gives them more power in the flavor, which is not muddled by the sweet content. The Port wines of Quinta do Infantado have therefore the flavor description medium-dry.

Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Port wines undergo a wood aging of four to six years, usually in large wooden barrels. In general, LBV is then ready to enjoy. The Infantado LBV deserves a few more years of bottle aging to reach their full potential. The 2009 Infantado LBV is currently showing lots of blackberry, licorice and raisin notes.

Tasting note:
Aubergine purple with a ruby red edge. On the nose there are dark berries, blackberries, blueberries and black raspberries, with a floral edge, somewhere between violets and rose petals. The Port has a nice freshness. The same fresh berries are found on the palate, ripe but not jam-like, with a light acidity that nicely accentuates the dry style. The tannins are mild, but present and the finish is of medium length. Uniquely spicy and dry as with the other Infantado Port wines can be found. Silky texture. Very nice.
